Early discharge

Early discharge (meaning, coming home shortly after giving birth - typically within 4-48 hours) often concerns people. Following discharge, many women receive one home visit from a hospital midwife, followed by one home visit from an early childhood nurse a few weeks later. Many feel overwhelmed, isolated, alone and scared. They have unanswered questions, and they worry.

If you’ve been discharged from hospital - whether early or following a 5-7-day stay and you’re worried, have questions, need someone to talk to or have concerns, Dial a Midwife. We’re here 7 days a week with same-day appointments available almost always.
